Navigating a Busy Mind

When you change your thoughts, you can change your life. Sounds simple, doesn't it? However, many of us are our own harshest critic, and we have negative thoughts that take us down instead of building us up.

This month, check out what it takes to truly embrace a positive mindset.  You'll read about imposter syndrome – what it is and how you can kick it to the curb with a mindset shift. There's also space to reflect on your own intake, associations and affirmations, so you can become more intentional about putting the good stuff in and forging a more confident, positive path forward.

Naturally, your mindset won't completely shift overnight.  Just take it one thought at a time, and over the next few months, take note of how you feel.  When you do this, you'll be able to calm your busy mind and feel happier in your day-to-day!

NAVIGATING A BUSY MIND

The mind is powerful. It can be easy to trick yourself into thinking you're not good enough, but when you change your thoughts, you can calm your busy mind.

WHAT IS IMPOSTER SYNDROME?

Feeling like your accomplishments and talents aren't legitimate, despite the opposite being true.

Change your thoughts, change your life

Social media can lead to a lot of the self-doubt behind the imposter syndrome, and the average person spends 145 minutes a day on sical sites.

Tip: Let go of negative posts that tend to stick around. This gets easier when you limit scrolling time and replace it with an interesting read, uplifting podcast or a walk.

Because of imposter syndrome, people may hold themselves back from opportunities they're qualified for out of fear of not having al the skills.

Tip: Focus on skills you do have adn the accomplishments that shaped them. Remember who you are adn what you achieved to get to where you are.

Dwelling on past mistakes is common with imposter syndrome and often diminishes confidence moving forward.

Tip: Recognize how you've grown from past failures and mistakes instead of ruminating on the events themselves.

Nearly 70% fo adults ahve experienced some form of "imposter syndrome."

When you need to quiet the mind:

  • Talk with a friend or mentor who knows your achievements.
  • Journal about your accomplishments and growth.
  • Lift our mindset with an activity you love, like walking, reading or cooking.
